Kawan Santana is visiting our lab from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) to work on estimating linkage disequilibrium for pathogen genomes co-supervised by Rodrigo Corder.

Erwan presented his work on signals of selection in metabolically relevant loci in South Asians at the School Postgraduate symposium.

On another cheerful note, Aicha has won an award for best group project at the SynthSprint Workshop.

April 2026

We are very happy to host Somnath Chindhe and Natalie Sukow, PhD students from the University of Turku (Finland) and Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil), respecively.

Somnath is investigation polygenic adaptation on Finnish cohorts, while Natalie studies genetic adaptation in Indigenous populations from South America.

March 2026

Some of us were lucky enough to attend the ProbGen conference in Berkeley. Matteo gave a talk our on work on synthetic data, and Cindy (in the picture with Sandipan) presented a poster on detecting balancing selection using deep learning.
